Monthly Bacteriological Monitoring Notice

The Sidney Water System is a public water system subject to regulation under the federal Safe Drinking Water Act.
Those regulations require the notification of customers whenever a violation occurs, and is the basis for this notice.

Three water samples were submitted for January 2019, however only one valid bacteriological sample result was
received. The other samples had an insufficient amount of water or leaked in transit and could not be analyzed.

Due to these invalid water samples the water system was unable to achieve the required monitoring and attain
valid results for total coliform bacteria during the time period mentioned above and consequently cannot be certain
of the quality of the drinking water at the time.

Failure to meet this requirement does not necessarily mean that the water was unsafe during that time or
that alternate sources of water should be used.

Replacement samples have since been taken and valid bacteriological sample results received. The water system
continues to conduct the regular monthly monitoring schedule and valid sample results have been received for February 2019.

Should you have any questions concerning the content of this notice, contact the water system at 870-266-3362
or the Engineering Section of the Department of Health at 501-661-2623.
